Go Fish! Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

Hello everyone! Hope y'all had a fantastic weekend.  I just finished my project for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge and I am so excited to share it with you.  The theme this week is Go Fish so I decided to use some of my favorite Sand and Sea elements from Tim Holtz and of course my favorite Ranger Distress Inks.

I started by creating a background onto watercolor card stock using Distress Inks and water.  I added additional stamped elements in the background as well as some texture with stencils and Ranger matte texture paste.
The Sand and Sea elements were cut from grungeboard- painted and then the seahorse was covered with Rock Candy Crackle paint. Once dry I added a bit of distress stain, this is a technique I learned in one of Tim's s12 tags of 2014-july. i also created the "sand" using the technique from the same 12 tags lesson.
The entire panel was place atop a Tim Holtz Canvas Panel- covered in tissue wrap and lightly sprayed with Distress stains.  - and as a final touch I added the fish netting prior to attaching the main panel to the canvas.

Thanks so much for joining me today, I had so much fun with this challenge- be sure to check out Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge each week for some fun and inspiration!.

Crazy Dogs Mini Canvases

Happy Monday y'all! I want to share with you today a really fun project that was inspired by a fantastic video by the fabulous and talented Nina-Marie Trapani (for Simon Says Stamp)  using Tim Holtz's Crazy Dogs stamps.

These are such cute little canvases, stamped with Archival Black ink and colored with Distress Crayons and water. See Kristina's video here!
I decided to make them into magnets by running them through the Xyron Creative Station loaded with the magnetic cartridge.

The Distress Crayons leave such a great texture on the canvases (covered with a layer of gesso first).

The colors are so vibrant-not washed out like with other water coloring tools.

Thanks for joining me today and be sure to check out the Simon Says Stamp Blog and Nina's video for more great inspiration!

Alcohol Ink Abstract Tim Holtz Blueprints

Happy Thursday everyone! Today I wanted to share with you a really fun project using Ranger alcohol inks. I started off making multiple backgrounds with alcohol ink and a can of spray to create the Alcohol Ink Splatter backgrounds (a technique I learned from Tim Holtz of course).

I used Ranger Specialty Stamping paper and created a couple of each color combo, stamping my favorite Tim Holtz Blueprint on each.  I used one to cut out the main image and place it on the other to "pop".

I love the look of the abstract main image atop the abstract background.  These were so fun to create. I added a few embellishments and/or sentiments  to each to finish out the card design.

I am entering this fun summery card into this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge-Summer Fun.
Thanks for stopping by today and please leave a comment below and share your thoughts!

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016 July

As promised I am going back in time and completing all of the 2016 Tim tags thus far.  For July the technique remix is a combination of Watercolor Resist (July 2015) and Layered Words (April 2015).

Love the fall colors in this tag: Carved Pumpkin, Candied Apple, Twisted Citron, Lucky Clover, Peeled Paint  and Walnut Stain Distress Markers were used with a Distress Water Brush to color.

The watercolor resist technique uses the Distress Microglaze which is an amazing product for creating a watercolor wash over a stamped image!

The watercolor wash I used over this Blueprint "Cuppa Joe" was Squeezed Lemonade Distress Stain-what a gorgeous yellow that complements the greens in the coffee cup so well.

Thanks so much for joining me again for another sample of Tim's technique remix 12 tags! If you have not joined in the fun-stop on by to his blog-it's so addicting!

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016 August

Hey y'all! I am so excited to finally be settled into my new studio in our new home in South Carolina! And finally I am organized enough to be able to spend lots of time in the studio creating.
After finishing Creative Chemistry 103 I have been super motivated to go back and create all of Tim's   tags from this year that I have missed. So I am starting backwards and beginning with this month's.  This year's 12 tags is based on what Tim calls Technique Remix- where he takes two of his previously used techniques and combines them-what a fantastic idea- so many possibilities.

For the August 2016 tag- the technique combo is Brayered Stain (July 2013) and Frameworks (April 2014).
I chose to create 3 different tags this month-just for some variety. To start off I created my tags using the Brayered Stain technique.

I used various colors of Distress Stain- Tumbled Glass, Twisted Citron, Lucky Clover and Broken China.  For the edges and accents with Distress ink I used Mermaid Lagoon, Faded Jeans, Walnut Stain and Ground Espresso.

Love the way these backgrounds came out!

For the Frameworks I used Honeycomb and Courtyard and various textures- patterned paper, burlap, cork, mirror, and corrugate.

Tropical Thinlits

I am entering the Palm Tree and the Sea Horse into this week's Simon Says stamp Monday Challenge-Summer Fun.
Woodlands Thinlits

I finished off each of the tags with a different silhouette.

Sand and Sea Bigz Die
Be sure to check out Tim's blog for this month's tag tutorial-the remix is so much fun!
Thanks for joining me today!

Celebrate Charleston Pride Week

In honor of Charleston's upcoming Pride Week I wanted to share a project in celebration!

I was inspired to make this card while attending Tim Holtz's Creative Chemistry 103 class online this week.  I melded a few of the techniques seen in class to put my own spin on this creation.
The stamp set used for the background is Patriotic Fragments from Technique Junkies.  If you haven't seen Pat's fantastic line of stamps, be sure to check them out here

The techniques used were :
Distress DIY Ombré Technique
and a spin on the Distress Washed Watercolor Technique both of which you can learn at Online Card Classes- Creative Chemistry 103.
In order to stamp the whole background- I used the various stamps from the Red, White and Blue set and set them up on my Misti Stamping tool in the array that I wanted-and then of course inked them with my DIY Inkpad (Rainbow).

I used weathered wood for the "wash" technique afterward which I think gave the project some great texture!
I used Tim Holtz Alphas to spell "PRIDE" and used a bit of distress paint on each to make them stand out.
Thanks for joining me today and Happy Pride!!
