Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016 July

As promised I am going back in time and completing all of the 2016 Tim tags thus far.  For July the technique remix is a combination of Watercolor Resist (July 2015) and Layered Words (April 2015).

Love the fall colors in this tag: Carved Pumpkin, Candied Apple, Twisted Citron, Lucky Clover, Peeled Paint  and Walnut Stain Distress Markers were used with a Distress Water Brush to color.

The watercolor resist technique uses the Distress Microglaze which is an amazing product for creating a watercolor wash over a stamped image!

The watercolor wash I used over this Blueprint "Cuppa Joe" was Squeezed Lemonade Distress Stain-what a gorgeous yellow that complements the greens in the coffee cup so well.

Thanks so much for joining me again for another sample of Tim's technique remix 12 tags! If you have not joined in the fun-stop on by to his blog-it's so addicting!

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016 August

Hey y'all! I am so excited to finally be settled into my new studio in our new home in South Carolina! And finally I am organized enough to be able to spend lots of time in the studio creating.
After finishing Creative Chemistry 103 I have been super motivated to go back and create all of Tim's   tags from this year that I have missed. So I am starting backwards and beginning with this month's.  This year's 12 tags is based on what Tim calls Technique Remix- where he takes two of his previously used techniques and combines them-what a fantastic idea- so many possibilities.

For the August 2016 tag- the technique combo is Brayered Stain (July 2013) and Frameworks (April 2014).
I chose to create 3 different tags this month-just for some variety. To start off I created my tags using the Brayered Stain technique.

I used various colors of Distress Stain- Tumbled Glass, Twisted Citron, Lucky Clover and Broken China.  For the edges and accents with Distress ink I used Mermaid Lagoon, Faded Jeans, Walnut Stain and Ground Espresso.

Love the way these backgrounds came out!

For the Frameworks I used Honeycomb and Courtyard and various textures- patterned paper, burlap, cork, mirror, and corrugate.

Tropical Thinlits

I am entering the Palm Tree and the Sea Horse into this week's Simon Says stamp Monday Challenge-Summer Fun.
Woodlands Thinlits

I finished off each of the tags with a different silhouette.

Sand and Sea Bigz Die
Be sure to check out Tim's blog for this month's tag tutorial-the remix is so much fun!
Thanks for joining me today!
Embrace Imperfection!

Friends & Wine Technique Junkies Showcase

Good morning Junkies! I have been playing a ton in the studio with all my new TJ stamps that I picked up at the Springfield Heirloom show and have I got a treat for you today!  I just love the June release Wine with Friends- it's a huge set of 10 stamps with so many great sentiments and a fantastic background block.
I definitely got carried away creating with this set and I am sharing two different projects I created.
The first features an alcohol ink background on glossy paper over which I repeated the background block to create a fantastic note card.  I made a bunch of these using different combos of colors of alcohol inks- here are two:

I love how the background looks like patterned paper!

For my second project with this set I created a watercolor (stencil mono print) background and featured the sentiment "Friends & Wine Get Better with Age."

I complimented the sentiment with the small wine glass from the set, stamped with Dusty Concord distress ink and covered with clear embossing powder.

This is my favorite set from the June release-check them all out here!
Thanks for stopping by this week and keep checking back for all the great inspiration from our talented TJ design team!
Cheers!

Fourth of July Series: Technique Junkies Showcase

Hello all! Welcome back to another installment in my Fourth of July series this month, celebrating the RED,WHITE & BLUE!

For this project I am featuring a fantastic stamp set from Technique Junkies

This set is amazing to work with- so many techniques come to mind!!

I used one of the flags to alter script patterned paper  by creating an embossed background and covering with distress inks (Barn Door and Faded Jeans).

I then stamped the words RED WHITE & BLUE in between the flags.
I added a die cut flag that was covered in clear crackle paint and then colored with Distress Stains.
The background piece was then die cut using the Tim Holtz postage stamp die and adhered to the sanded Kraft core card stock with Xyron homemade dimensional foam tape. I ran the flag piece through my Xyron Creative Station (loaded with 5" Permanent adhesive) and adhered it to the card front.

The distressed look of these stamps is just perfect for this technique!

Stayed tuned to my blog for even more samples from my Fourth of July Series!
