12 Tags of September...with a twist

Hey y'all! We have a tropical storm in our midst today so I have hunkered down in the studio and got an early start on my September 12 Tags!

I started by created a bunch of  Paint Patina backgrounds on manila tags.

Then for the second background I used Black and Mushroom Alcohol inks on Yupo and then stamped in various colors of Archival Inks to create the "negative" technique (as seen in Creative Chemistry 103).

For the TWIST I sprayed a couple of the backgrounds with Isopropyl Alcohol- creating a droplet effect that when dried turned into a cool blue splotchy background.

I added a bit of hand "stitching" to two of the three tags and will be entering these in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge:  It's a Stitch Up

I love how the twist on this technique provide the perfect halo for my umbrella man!
Thanks so much for joining me today! Hope everyone who was/is in the path of the storm stays safe and sound!

Alcohol Ink Abstract Tim Holtz Blueprints

Happy Thursday everyone! Today I wanted to share with you a really fun project using Ranger alcohol inks. I started off making multiple backgrounds with alcohol ink and a can of spray to create the Alcohol Ink Splatter backgrounds (a technique I learned from Tim Holtz of course).

I used Ranger Specialty Stamping paper and created a couple of each color combo, stamping my favorite Tim Holtz Blueprint on each.  I used one to cut out the main image and place it on the other to "pop".

I love the look of the abstract main image atop the abstract background.  These were so fun to create. I added a few embellishments and/or sentiments  to each to finish out the card design.

I am entering this fun summery card into this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge-Summer Fun.
Thanks for stopping by today and please leave a comment below and share your thoughts!

Back to Nature: Cut It Up Challenge DT Inspiration

Hello crafty friends! TGIF!! I have to say I am enjoying this beautiful Fall weather- crisp and cool mornings and evenings!  Last Saturday we went for the first hike of the Fall season and it was incredible.
Along the way to the peak I was taking in all the sites and looking for some inspiration for this week's Cut it Up Challenge Back to Nature. Believe it or not the leaves are already starting to change color-so there were so many beautiful colors of leaves along the edges of the trail I decided to use this for my project focus this week.

I used Tim Holtz's Tattered Leaves die for my die-cut and cut the leaves from Kraft Glassine paper after coloring with Alcohol inks and wrinkling to get the look of tattered leaves.
I placed all the leaves in a pile of sorts onto a background I had made previously.

Alcohol Inks on Kraft Glassine looks amazing and the texture once crinkled looks exactly like a real leaf!
I encourage you to get outside, take a walk or a hike and look around-take in nature. You will be surprised how much inspiration abounds!
Thanks for joining me this week and I hope you join in the fun for the Cut It Up Challenge-Back to Nature!
