Merry Christmas!

Welcome back Junkies!  I am back today to share another project featuring  a few of the holiday themed stamps from Technique Junkies

I created the background by randomly stamping one of the Christmas trees from the set onto Neenah Desert Storm card stock with Ranger Dye Inks.  Then I applied distress markers over top using the Distress Marker spritzer by Tim Holtz to create the soft mist.  I added the circle Date-o-Matic and the sentiment to finish off the piece.  What a fun and festive- and quick Christmas note card!

Merry & Bright- Stretch your Stamps!

Hello all! Thanks for joining me today- I am doing a two day series featuring Technique Junkies stamps leading into our October 1 blog hop-so I hope you will join me for all!

For today's project I decided to use a background stamp-one from the October "early" release called Baubles.  However I decided to use it in a different way.  I did indeed make a background with it- but then used the piece to die cut some carved ornaments (from Tim Holtz/Sizzix).

I started by stamping the entire background Baubles stamp onto Neenah White card stock using Versa Mark ink and covering with WOW silver embossing powder.  To give the piece a stained glass look- I colored the inside of each bauble with Zig Brush Markers.

Then I used distress inks and spray stains to color the entire piece (one in blues and one in greens).  Once colored and heat set the piece was use to die cut out the matching ornaments.
The card was finished by cutting the sentiment from corrugate card stock using Tim Holtz Christmas words thinlit dies and of course adding a little vintage grunge!
Please stop back by Friday for another feature of the TJ stamps and of course join us on Saturday for the Design Team Blog Hop!

At the Movies...

Hi all! Just wanted to share with you a really fun project I created for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge- At the Movies and for the September Vintage Journey Challenge-Create with a Frame.
I started by grabbing all the Tim Holtz's movie related stamps, dies, idea-ology etc that I have and then just pieced this creation together.

I started out to make a card but it then turned into a mixed media dimensional project which I set into a box frame.

I even made a little film reel from a wooden sewing spool and Tim Holtz's Idea-ology film strip ribbon.

I used one of my favorite stamp sets At the Movies CMS081 for the popcorn box and also the Ticket Collage wood mounted stamp for the background. I added 2 cut-out from the Picture Wheel Bigz die which I cut out of foil card stock, painted with Distress paint and place atop frosted film to give the look of a true negative reel,

I added the "at the movies" theme phrase using Tim's Letterpress Wood blocks- painted to coordinate with the red and yellow from the popcorn box.

Thanks for joining me today and check out the SSS Monday Challenge for some great inspiration from their super talented designers!

12 Tags of September...with a twist

Hey y'all! We have a tropical storm in our midst today so I have hunkered down in the studio and got an early start on my September 12 Tags!

I started by created a bunch of  Paint Patina backgrounds on manila tags.

Then for the second background I used Black and Mushroom Alcohol inks on Yupo and then stamped in various colors of Archival Inks to create the "negative" technique (as seen in Creative Chemistry 103).

For the TWIST I sprayed a couple of the backgrounds with Isopropyl Alcohol- creating a droplet effect that when dried turned into a cool blue splotchy background.

I added a bit of hand "stitching" to two of the three tags and will be entering these in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge:  It's a Stitch Up

I love how the twist on this technique provide the perfect halo for my umbrella man!
Thanks so much for joining me today! Hope everyone who was/is in the path of the storm stays safe and sound!

So many of the designs from this month pair so well with one of my favorite "spooky" background stamps: Spider Webs so of course I decided to pair them up for this project.
My first card uses a fun paint resist technique for the background and the main focus is the new release sentiment: Happy Halloween.

For my second card I chose the Witchy Moon stamp. This is a great silhouette stamp and just perfectly paired with the Spider Web background and the Happy Hallowen sentiment.

Thanks for joining me today and be sure to continue on the hop and don't miss any of the great inspiration from these talented artists.  Your next stop on the hop is the super talented Judy Jackson!
