It's summertime and there's nothing better than a little ice cream to cool you off on a hot day- or any day for that matter! Love this stamp set from Paper Smooches! I used texture paste (colored with Distress ink) to give the actual ice cream scoop it's texture and of course had to add some sprinkles!

Technique Junkies June Blog Hop

Happy June Junkies!
It’s officially summer and the Technique Junkie Design Team is kicking off the sunny days of Summer with a blog hop showcasing all of the new designs for June. You should have arrived here from the Design Team Blog-if not be sure to start there so not to miss all the great inspiration!

I have a very special treat for you today showcasing a fantastic Technique Junkies June release: Tide Pool Starfish-which of course reminds me of summer and the beach!! The stamp is a great background stamp which would look superb with watercolor or gelato! Today I am going to give you an example of how to "stretch your stamps"!

For this card I actually inked the stamp and stamped twice on two separate pieces of water color card stock. For the first one I partially inked the stamp around the edges of the starfish with various colors of distress ink (Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey, Rusty Hinge and Vintage Photo) and then sprayed the stamp lightly with pearlized water. After stamping onto the watercolor cardstock I had a partial background stamped just highlighting the starfish. For the second stamping I stamped the starfish only (with the same colors) spritzed with pearlized water, dried with a heat tool and cut out the starfish images. The starfish were then covered with clear embossing powder (using Versamark watermark ink) and heat set leaving a really cool shine.

The edges were all inked with Vintage Photo to make both the background and the starfish pop!

The pieces were then layered onto a pieces of corrugate card stock that was sprayed with Perfect Pearl Pearls Biscotti mist giving it a light golden shine.

I used a stamp from Technique Junkies-Sentimental Sayings and added the sentiment "forever Friends" to the bottom of the card. I thought this was a great sentiment seeing that the two starfish are connected.

So don't be afraid to think outside the box and try your stamps in different ways-using portions of them, layering etc! You will be amazed at the results and see how much use you can get out of these great stamps!

Loves Rubber Stamps Sensational Sunday Hop

It's wedding season and we have at least 3 weddings to attend in the coming months, so I thought we should get started on some wedding cards. Paper Smooches has such cute images I just had to use there Hubby and Wifey set along with the Wedding Wordscript background from Hero Arts. Cute combo yet still elegant enough for a wedding!
