A Merry Little Christmas...with Craftwell and Xyron

Christmas will be here before we know it. Get a jump start on those Christmas greetings with Craftwell dies and Xyron of course!

Step-by-Step Tutorial 

Set up Craftwell small tree die to cut from glitzy patterned paper. 

Run through die cut machine twice to ensure a good clean cut. 

Cut a 4.25” x 5.5” of white card stock and ink direct to paper with Mowed Lawn Distress ink. 

While the ink is still wet on the paper apply Perfect Pearls to entire piece to add shimmer and glitz. 

Place inked piece into embossing folding and run through die cut/embossing machine.

Using a small flat sponge apply Hero Arts White Unicorn ink to embossed areas-small dots.

Repeat step 6 with Brilliance ink 

Run piece through the Xyron Creative Station loaded with the 5” Permanent adhesive cartridge.

Cut a coordinating piece of patterned card stock slightly larger than you main piece and adhere main piece. 

Run the three trees cut in step one through the Xyron Creative Station loaded with the 5” Permanent adhesive cartridge. 

Adhere trees to card front, slightly overlapping. 

Apply a small amount of Brushed pewter alcohol ink to the Tim Holtz Idea-ology stars and let dry. 

Run the small star pieces through the Xyron 3” Sticker Maker. 

Adhere stars to tops of trees.

Apply small dots of silver Stickles to trees for added dimension and allow to dry thoroughly. 

Load the Xyron Creative Station with the 9” Permanent Adhesive cartridge. 

Run the entire piece through the Xyron Creative Station loaded with the 9” cartridge. 

Adhere piece  to a piece a white card base cut slightly larger than finished piece.

Stamp Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas in Archival Black onto white card stock and flag. Cut out and flag each end-ink edges with green ink.

Before you know it the Holiday season will be upon us.  With Xyron and Craftwell you can put together these fantastic holiday cards in a snap. 


I was inspired to make this project after watching Jennifer McGuire's video showing this really fun technique:  Faux Textured Metal Paper. I have recapped the technique below along with adding a bit of my own stlyle as well.

Step-By-Step Instructions

Cut a piece of white card stock to 4.25” x 5.5”- mask off side with masking tape (1/2in) lining tape right up to edge of card stock. 

Using a blending tool ink the inside area with first shade of Distress ink. 

Add one or more shades of Distress to blend.

Apply a small amount of Perfect Pearls to the inked area with the large applicator brush.

Wipe off excess pearls and smooth out by gently buffing with a clean cloth.

Carefully remove tape by pulling to the side so not to tear the paper.

     Insert completed piece into the Craftwell embosiing folder and run through your die cut machine.

Cut die cut holiday words from white card stocK and  apply Versamark ink to the front side of each die cut word . 

  Cover each word with embossing powder- use tweezers to hold. 

 Heat set embossing powder with heat tool and let each cool. 

 Run each die cut word through the Xyron 1.5 inch Sticker Maker.

Adhere  die cut words to front of card. 

To make the background paper to match each card, cut a piece of white card stock to 5 x 6 and inch the edges direct to paper with ink pads. 

Apply Perfect Pearls to inked area, brush off, buff with cloth as before. 

Attach ribbon and to from of main piece.

Run main piece through the Xyron Creative Station loaded with the 9” Permanent Adhesive cartridge.

Adhere to background piece.

 Run entire piece through the Xyron Creative Station and attache to card base.

Add embellishment on top of ribbon.
