Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Layering

Hello all! It has been a long time since I have posted on my blog, but I am excited to get back into the swing of things.  Now that we are officially settled here in South Carolina and my studio is rebuilt I am ready to share some fun projects, inspiration and tutorials with y'all.
For today's post I am featuring a Valentine's Day card that I made for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Layering.  It features My Favorite Things stamp Monster Sized-love these cute monsters!

I stamped the background using two of the little monsters from the set and then colored them with Copic markers.  I layered the one "red" monster atop one of the stamped images for some depth and added some google eyes as well.

I then stamped the sentiment "Sending Monster sized Love" onto Simon Says Stamp black card stock  and white heat embossed it. I again layered this atop the middle of the card front with some dimensional foam tape.
To add a bit more interest to the white background areas I used the Tim Holtz Distress Marker Sprayer and the Candied Apple Distress Marker to add some fine mists of ink in these areas.
I just love this stamp set and stay tuned here on my blog for some additional projects for Valentine's Day using these as well as other stamps from the MFT new release.

I am featuring such a great stamp set this month:Palm Trees, set of 3. Just a perfect sentiment and one of the many reasons I moved to warmer weather here in the South!  Even though our palms in SC are technically Palmettos - it still fits!

The background was created using distress inks and layering stencils- I love this technique because you get such and organic feel.

Of course I used my MISTI for the stamping- almost a must for the silhouette stamps- and I just love how the Distress Paint layering shines through the Archival Black soot ink on the palm trees giving it an ethereal feel.

Thanks for joining me today and be sure to continue on the hop and don't miss any of the great inspiration from these talented artists.  Your next stop on the hop is the super talented Judy Jackson!

With Valentine's Day just around the corner I decided to feature 2 of the love themed stamps from this month's release: Love You and the amazing background stamp Messy Love

The background stamp is perfect for use with Distress Inks, spritzing with water and stamping onto watercolor paper. It definitely gives that true "messy" look.

The repeating script love you stamp looks just amazing as a centerpiece for this simple Valentine's card!

Unconditional Love! Technique Junkies Showcase

Happy Thursday all! Today I am not only showcasing Technique Junkies here on my blog, but I have another post on the TJ Design team blog as part of the 30 Days of Christmas celebration- be sure to check it out.
As many of you know I have 3 dogs that are very near and dear to my heart so I made this card using one of the fantastic Dog stamp sets from TJ: Dog Quotes

I used one of my favorite quotes from the set in a repeating pattern for the background of this fun and simple card for any dog lover!
A large paw print, cut with a thin die (Paper Smooches) from textured black card stock, was added to the corner for a bit of interest!

There are so many quotes in this set that you could even make a set of notecards as a gift for the dog lover in your life, using a different quote or multiple quotes for the background image.
Thanks for joining me today and be sure to stop by the TJ blog also for my Christmas post!

I see skies of blue...Technique Junkies Showcase

Happy Wednesday all! Today I wanted to share a project featuring the Technique Junkies November release sentiment stamp Wonderful World

This stamp pairs perfectly with this simple background, created by running a piece of watercolor card stock through a "clouds" embossing folder and inking over with Distress inks (several shades of blue).

The sentiment itself was  stamped in black Versafine ink onto watercolor paper as well and "popped" onto the center of the background.
Thanks for joining me today and be sure to stay tuned to the Technique Junkies Design Team blog for the entire 30 days of Christmas going on now!
