12 Tags of 2014 Tim Holtz May Entry
Just finished my Tim Holtz inspired tag for May. I actually decided to use a tag that I had made last week when I was playing with distress paint resist, making backgrounds. So with that as my base to work from, I made a tag to dedicate to my love Katie for all her love and support of my craft/studio time and again for encouraging me to head to Novi to meet Tim. I just love the colors in this tag. The background was stamped with a music background stamp in antique linen distress paint, dried and then I applied distress inks (Festive berries and worn lipstick). For the May tag I gathered all my Tim trinkets and picked some fun ones that went along with my theme. I used Seasonal Kraft core and cut out the word Cherish- sanded and used it as the focal point to my tag, since my shadow press texture fades have yet to arrive. I mounted each trinket on a chipboard piece and used the seasonal kraft core or the seasonal kraft resist for the background then applied my trinkets accordingly. Of course using a little bit of distress glitter (my new obsession) for the hearts!

Tim Holtz Inspired Fourth of July Cards
Some much needed time in the studio this weekend was had and I wanted to share the results. One of the cards I will be entering into the Compendium of Curiosities III challenge 2 as well. Just love creating with Tim's Distress Paints- so versatile and love using them for backgrounds as a resist. Each card has a similar stamped background- but each a little different in some way. One was also embossed after with the embossing folder to get a raised background. Just love the way the flag turned out using the Distress Glitter. On the Liberty card- I used my Sizzix eclips and the Stamp 2 cut to cut the shadow as well as the pieces for a "popped" look of Lady Liberty. These cards were so much fun to make! On the third card, I stamped the blueprint star stamp and used pewter Perfect Pearls to give it a sparkle and add dimension to the background.
Latest Inspiration!!
Well it has been a bit since my last post.....and since then I am so happy to share the news that I had the pleasure of meeting my artistic inspiration, the very talented Tim Holtz. Katie and I flew to Novi, MI for the Scrapbook Mega Meet, knowing that Tim was going to be demoing at the Stampers Anonymous booth. What and amazing trip!! The meet was great and meeting Tim was such a great experience. Watching him demoing live was so incredible. I have seen so many of his videos and taken his online Creative Chemistry classes (which I highly recommend), but watching him in person was just amazing! The booth was packed both days we were there but I was able to get a front row seat and even chatted with Tim a bit on his break. Such an inspiring guy and super super nice. We also got to meet Mr BTS himself Mario- super sweet guy!
