Tag It- Using Tim Holtz Distress Micro Glaze Resist

Morning all! I was playing in the studio this weekend using Tim Holtz's Distress Micro Glaze Resist technique (from Creative Chemistry 103).  I love working with stencils, inks and tags so this is right up my alley! Also this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is Tag It so I decided to join in there also!

I also challenged myself to use my new Side Orders from Tim and Sizzix along with my Side Kick Machine. Love this little guy!

The backgrounds are  layered using Tim's stencils and micro glaze along with Distress Ink Sprays. I also added an additional layer with stencils and Ground Espresso Distress Ink.

Then I added some of the cute shapes from the Side Order Love- and grunged them up of course. For a finishing touch I splashed some Picket Fence Distress paint over top.
Love this technique and the depth you can get with all the layering!

More from My Favorite Things...

Still playing with all my new My Favorite Things new releases-making Valentine's Day cards.  Here's another card using the fun Monster Sized stamp and die set. I may be addicted to these critters.  I have them peeking out of the MFT Peek A BooStriped Heart die.

For the next card I used the MFTValentine Wishes Stamp set- heat embossed onto a watercolor background created with Tim Holtz  Ranger Distress Crayons. I also used some Ranger Distress ink and stencils (MFT Full of Heart and Simon Says Stamp Falling Hearts) to layer atop the watercolor to add some interest and dimension.

It was so much fun making these card- I mass produced a bunch of the Valentine Wishes to send out to my friends and loved ones!

Hope you enjoyed today's projects and I will be entering these as well into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge- Layering.  Come join in the fun!

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Layering

Hello all! It has been a long time since I have posted on my blog, but I am excited to get back into the swing of things.  Now that we are officially settled here in South Carolina and my studio is rebuilt I am ready to share some fun projects, inspiration and tutorials with y'all.
For today's post I am featuring a Valentine's Day card that I made for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Layering.  It features My Favorite Things stamp Monster Sized-love these cute monsters!

I stamped the background using two of the little monsters from the set and then colored them with Copic markers.  I layered the one "red" monster atop one of the stamped images for some depth and added some google eyes as well.

I then stamped the sentiment "Sending Monster sized Love" onto Simon Says Stamp black card stock  and white heat embossed it. I again layered this atop the middle of the card front with some dimensional foam tape.
To add a bit more interest to the white background areas I used the Tim Holtz Distress Marker Sprayer and the Candied Apple Distress Marker to add some fine mists of ink in these areas.
I just love this stamp set and stay tuned here on my blog for some additional projects for Valentine's Day using these as well as other stamps from the MFT new release.
