I look up to you -Katie's latest creation!

Hello everyone! Back again with yet another Paper Smooches card for this week's challenge.

This is Katie's entry, so adorable.  I love how she created the overall scene with the grass and clouds. The glossy accents on the heart makes it pop! Super cute!

Paper Smooches anything goes!!!

Back to the studio again this morning to create for the new Paper Smooches challenge. I am addicted to these fun stamps!  The whimsical is a little break from my usual distressed it is a creative challenge for me.

I just love these little critters and they are placed atop an acetate window. Love the bright jungle colors. I colored the little guys with prismacolor pencils and shaded with gamsol,
Hope you enjoy! I will be posting Katie's creation next!

Grab life by the beans!!!

Today I decided to enter the latest Paper Smooches Sparks challenge - this one is based on a design layout, which I always struggle with.  So I thought this would be a great way to work on this creatively!  I used the Paper Smooches stamp set Cyber Cafe and stamped and fussy cut the cups on pattered paper.  I made the matted backgrounds by stamping the beans and the small cup onto kraft and spritzing with Perfect Pearls Biscotti for a shine and to tone down the stark craft.  Following the design layout I cut free hand out of matching patterned paper the flags and place them adjacent to the central images.  You can see the design for the challenge HERE.  Below is my entry and I will upload supplies a little later today!

Caught a bug?

Guest artist Katie was back in the studio today creating her entry for the Paper Smooches anything goes challenge.  This is such an adorable card and I just love the background she created!!  First she stamped "Caught a bug?" from the Healthy Vibes stamp set with Versamark ink and applied white opaque embossing poweder and heat set.   Using the sentiment as a resist, she applied various colors of memento inks with Tim Holtz's splatter stencil. I just love the colors she chose and the way she placed the splatter!!  For the "bugs" she used the same Paper Smooches stamp set (stamping with archival black) and coloring with prismacolor pencils and placed them with pop dots on the card front.  This is such a cheery card for a get well sentiment!!  Love it! Another great job Katie...and to think   she just started papercrafting and stamping a few short months ago!!!

Hello Honey...Paper Smooches Anything Goes Challenge

Today I headed back down to the newly organized studio (thanks to my sweetie) to create for the Paper Smooches challenge.  I have had this idea in my head since watching Jennifer McGuire's Video on coloring embossing today I put it into action!  The background was created with Heidi Swap's honeycomb stencil and embossing paste, colored with Distress ink reinker squeezed lemonade. After applying the paste I used Rainbow sparkle embossing powder over it to give it some shine.  Applied mustard seed distress ink with a blending tool to cream color cardstock as the base prior to embossing. The honeycomb, bees and sentiment are from the Paper Smooches BEE MINE set and were stamped on patterned paper and paper pieced and colored for an added dimension. Matching paper was used to mat the first layer and the sentiment.  I used red patterned paper for the bees wings because they reminded me of hearts (actually Katie saw this first and I ran with it!).  See below for the supplies used and check back for the pics of the new studio!!

Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2014 March

Today for the first time I am submitting an entry to Tim's 12 tags.  I have used many of his techniques in the past and followed the 12 tags, but never submitted an entry.  So here goes.  For this tag I used (as Tim demonstrated on his blog, in Creative Chemistry 102  and in Compendium of Curiosities III)- the smudge technique.  I also used the new Distress Marker Spritzer and his honeycomb stencil for the backgorund.  I wanted to include some color- it being March and with Spring fast approaching.  Here are the two renditions of the tag- the first generation and the lighter second stamping using the huff technique. I plan to use the second one as a subtle background for a later tag.

A couple of close-ups of the original tag to see the colors:

New Tim Holtz Distress Marker Spritzer!!! I am in love!!!

OMG, just tried out the new Distress Marker Spritzer by Tim Holtz- I absolutely LOVE this tool.  It is so addicting.  I made two cards today while I was experimenting with the spritzer and stencils.  The first card I planned out in my head and the second came from the scrap paper I was using to practice - love when that happens.

On the first card I used the Tim Holtz burlap stencil, Distress markers, and the spritzer to create the rainbow bakcground.  Then I stamped the Paper Smooches "hello"  in archival black and outlined with a gel pen.
I originally stamped the hello on white scrap and was testing the spritzer when I realized that it looked really cool and I used the heart spellbinders die to cut out the shape.  Used simple white cardstck for the background, embossed with the Darice hearts embossing folders for  a bit of texture. I added a simple red heart ribbon behind for another touch of color, matted with red cardstock to match!
