Technique Junkies May Release Blog Hop

Welcome Junkies!  Thanks for starting May out with us! So excited to share our second blog hop with you to showcase our May stamp release. You should have arrived here from Judy's Blog- such an amazing artist!  We have lots more great inspiration  to share with you so make sure you start at the very beginning of the hop The Technique Junkies Designer Blog so you don't miss anything! And the TJ website is always your source for everything Technique Junkies.

With spring finally here in New England-it's been a long cold winter-we are starting to see the birds again and buds on the trees! So in celebration of spring and all things NEW we are excited to share several new products now available at techniquejunkies.com including stencils, art
anthology colorations and dimensional
mediums. Be sure to check them out!
Also this week all MAY new releases are 15% off!
The project I am sharing with you today features the new release SD611 To the Moon and the TJ stamp Moon Time.

I actually stamped the Moon Time Stamp twice and used both to make an oval across which I place the sentiment.  This is one of my favorite sentiments! The sentiment was stamped onto watercolor card stock after I used the background technique Acrylic Stains from the Artistic Effects CD.  I then cut the strip to fit across the middle of my card. The Moon Time stamp was embossed with clear embossing powder after stamping in Versafine Black Onyx ink. The image was then watercolored with Distress stains (see Distress Stain Watercolor also on the Artistic Effects CD).

There are two layered backgrounds behind the focal image- the first was done using a stencil mono print and the second is Tim Holtz's Resist Paper Stash colored with distress inks matching the colors used to watercolor the Moon Time stamp image.
The die cut moon was run through my Xyron Creative Station upside down and then I adhered yellow Stickles fine glitter to it- love using the Xyron to adhere glitter because it doesn't clump!
TIP: if you ink your piece prior to sending it through the Xyron- dry it well with a heat gun so the adhesive will stick. Distress ink remains wet for quite a while so this step is essential to getting great adhesive coverage for the glitter!

I then adhered all the layers together-popping the first layer onto the second using homemade foam tape made with my Xyron.

I hope you are inspired by today's project!
Below is a list for all the stops on the hop:

Be sure to check them all out. The next stop in the May Hop is Marilyn.  Go check out her amazing creations and be inspired! And please leave a comment below -always love your thoughts!

  2. Me too - that glitter moon is way cool. Love the tip too. I always forget that Distress Ink doesn't stick when it's wet even thought it may look dry. Have a great day.
