Cut it Up DT Inspiration Challenge 71 Misty

Good Morning!! Welcome to another Cut It Up Challenge- this week's theme is Mist-y, which requires you to use mist somewhere in your project and as always a die cut!

My DT inspiration for you all is the card below where I used Tim Holtz's Sizzix Alterations Tea Time die and Ranger Perfect Pearls Mist (biscotti) for the required components.

So a bit about my creative process for this card-once I decided that I was using the Tea Time die I put my creative thinking cap on and asked myself what do I think of when I think of having a cup of tea.  Three things came to mind: the British, friends, and afternoon tea at the library back in college.
I wanted to give the card a postage stamp feel as well and also used the Tim Holtz Postage Stamp die to add that element.
The background is actually all hand stamped (altered patterned paper) where I used Distress markers to ink up Tim Holtz's British Flag stamp (over and over) and make a repeating background over the newsprint patterned paper (DCWV). After stamping each flag, while the ink was still wet, I covered and embossed with clear embossing powder- so it would create a resist that I could ink over!
The cups were die cut from grunge board and then also cut from patterned paper which I used to cover the grunge board by running through my Xyron Creative Station, loaded with the 5' permanent refill. The cups were then distressed with Faded Jeans, Barn Door, and Vintage photo distress ink and finally misted with a generous layer of Perfect Pearls Biscotti Spray mist.
The tiny tea bag label was cut in a similar fashion from grunge board covered with patterned paper, distressed and attached with Tim's Postal paper string.
I used a third die cut here as well- the words "cherish" and "friends' from Tim Holtz/Sizzix thinlits and a fourth from his Heartfelt Bigz die (the smallest heart).
The words and heart were then embossed with clear embossing powder to add some dimension and shine.

The picture above captures the glimmer of the Perfect Pearls mist-give the cups some texture and shine!

I hope you will hop over to the Cut it Up Challenge blog and see more great inspiration from the rest of the talented design team, And please join in the fun this week and get MIST-Y!

  1. Love this! I'm not a tea drinker, but as I swig my 3rd cup of coffee this morning, I'm inspired to do something like this with coffee mugs! Thanks for sharing your background technique!
